His songs of love loss struck a chord with listeners, even when they couldn't understand all of the bilingual lyrics. It all started in 1975 with 'Before the Next Teardrop Falls.' the same album included a reworked version of an earlier song Fender first recorded in 1959, Wasted Days and Wasted Nights', Fender's last #1 hit came in 1976 with ;You'll Lose a Good Thing,; but it was far from the end of his career. He continued recording albums for many years.
